KOALA LAND HONEY

So many of us enjoy eating honey, which is a deliciously sweet food. You might think that all honey is the same. But if you’ve ever tasted an active healing honey with health benefits such as Koala Land Manuka and Jarrah honey, you’ll know that their taste and healing properties are far superior to regular honey. Both our Manuka and Jarrah Honey are premium grade, pure and natural honeys native to Australia.

MANUKA vs JARRAH HONEY

Manuka honey contains methylglyoxal, which is considered a non-peroxide honey.

Jarrah honey contains enzyme, which produces hydrogen peroxide.

The Antimicrobial Rating

Due to hydrogen peroxide level, Jarrah honey is up to 50% more antimicrobial than Manuka honey.

The Medicinal and Economic Value

The NPA of Manuka is considered relatively stable, making it a viable medical treatment option. By comparison, Jarrah honey's medicinal effectiveness is lower, because certain types of aerobic bacteria can produce an enzyme to break down the Hydrogen peroxide.

What About Taste…?

Manuka honey has a nice natural medium level of sweetness, coupled with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Jarrah honey is higher in fructose than any other honey, has a delicately sweet and robustly smooth taste, is likened to the flavour of caramel.

MANUKA HONEY

Manuka honey is a type of honey native to Australia and New Zealand. It’s produced by bees who pollinate the flower of Leptospermum scoparium.

Methylglyoxal is Manuka honey’s active ingredient and likely responsible for antibacterial effects. So, manuka honey has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. This active honey is particularly valued for its non-peroxide antibacterial activity (NPA).

JARRAH HONEY

Jarrah honey is a rarer honey gathered from Jarrah trees (Eucalyptus marginata) only found in Western Australia. Flowering just every two years, the cream coloured Jarrah blossom yields rich taste honey.

Jarrah honey is a natural healing honey that contains naturally occurring enzymes known as glucose oxidase, which produces low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (the source of antibacterial activity).
Hydrogen peroxide is bacteriostatic, meaning that it can inhibit the reproduction of bacteria.
